Seattle’s loss is Toronto’s gain.
The Matt Mitrione vs. Brendan Schaub fight, which was removed from the July 27 UFC on FOX 8 card after Mitrione suffered an injury in training, has been rescheduled for the Sept. 21 UFC 165 event in Toronto, The StarPhoenix first reported Friday night. No word just yet where the heavyweight fight will be placed on the card.
The heavyweights, who were cast members on the tenth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2009 and claimed to be friends afterwards, recently engaged in a heated Twitter exchange fueling the fire for their upcoming bout.
Mitrione (6-2) is coming off a 19-second knockout of Phil De Fries in April, while Schaub (9-3) most recently defeated Lavar Johnson via unanimous decision in February.
UFC 165, headlined by Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson for the UFC light heavyweight title, will take place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
