So much for that “Outlaw” fight.
Longtime UFC welterweight Matt Brown will try to snap a two-fight losing streak when he battles fellow hot-and-cold MMA veteran Dhiego Lima at the promotion’s upcoming combat sports event on June 19 at a city and venue to be determined.
That’s according to a report from MMA Fighting.
Brown (22-18), who turned 40 back in January, dropped a unanimous decision to former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit in their fan-friendly battle at UFC Fight Island 7 earlier this year in Abu Dhabi. It was the second straight loss for “The Immortal,” who previously went down on strikes to Miguel Baeza at UFC on ESPN 8.
As for Lima (15-8), eight years younger than Brown at age 32, his three-fight winning streak was halted by surging 170-pound up-and-comer Belal Muhammad at the UFC 258 PPV last month in Las Vegas. That victory pushed Muhammad into a main event against Leon Edwards at UFC Vegas 21 in just a few weeks.
No other bouts have been announced for the promotion’s June 9 event, which is likely to take place in either Las Vegas or Abu Dhabi, but you can expect that to change over the next couple of weeks, if not sooner.
