Mads Burnell v Steve Aimable | Cage Warriors

The Dane looks to remain unbeaten in Cage Warriors as he takes on Steve Aimable in his first championship defence.

A second title fight has been added to Cage Warriors’ return to London as current featherweight champion, Mads Burnell (12-3), takes on Englishman, Steve Aimable (13-5). The show takes place on Friday November 22nd from the Indigo at the O2 which is a venue that has showcased many of the promotion’s biggest stars over the years.

Since losing his place on the UFC roster last year following a 1-2 run in the world’s biggest MMA organization, Burnell has won his first three fights in Cage Warriors all by submission. He claimed the featherweight title in his last outing at the Night of Champions event when he executed his second straight Japanese Necktie against then-champion, Dean Trueman.

Many suggested that would be enough to earn him a recall to the UFC, especially with the promotion’s debut event in Denmark coming up later this month, but it has now been confirmed he will be staying in Cage Warriors to try and cement his position as their number one featherweight.

Steve ‘Diddy Kong’ Aimable will be looking to seize the biggest opportunity of his career so far and spring the upset on the Dane. He is currently riding a four-fight winning streak and is coming off of a decision victory against Aidan Stephen back in May. With a victory, Aimable would become the second fighter on the Cage Warriors roster to hold a belt from the East of England.

The show is expected to be headlined by current middleweight champion, James Webb, when he defends his belt against Nathias Frederick in a rematch of their controversial bout at Cage Warriors 106: Night of Champions.
