It’s been a fight week to remember for Alex Caceres, who gets a third different opponent at UFC Vegas 8.
It’s third time lucky for Alex Caceres at UFC Vegas 8, as he will fight debutant Austin Springer after his two previous opponents were forced out of the fight.
MMA Fighting first reported the matchup. Caceres was originally supposed to fight Giga Chikadze on the UFC Vegas 8 card, but the Georgian withdrew from the fight for an undisclosed reason earlier this week.
In stepped “The Hard Hitting Hillbilly” Kevin Croom, who was supposed to be making his UFC debut against Caceres. In a bizarre turn of events, Croom was cut from the UFC less than 24 hours after signing for the promotion and Caceres will now fight the newcomer Springer.
Springer (12-3) appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series back in 2018, but he wasn’t signed to the promotion after defeating Chikadze by third-round submission. The 33-year-old has only fought once since that win for Washington-based promotion CageSport.
UFC Vegas 8 takes place this Saturday, August 29th, and will be headlined by a light heavyweight fight between Anthony Smith and Aleksander Rakic.
