Canelo Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) was a big favorite heading into his showdown with fellow Mexican star Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs), and in this special 164.5 lbs catchweight attraction, their rivalry was settled with Canelo pretty much doing whatever he wanted against an incredibly poor Chavez Jr. Canelo won every round on the three judges’ scorecards, and you’d be hard-pressed to fight even three decent highlights out of Chavez Jr.

On the plus side, Canelo vs. Gennady Golovkin is official, and that announcement was more exciting than the woeful display Chavez Jr. turned in.
