Cinco de Mayo weekend tends to be a big deal in the boxing world and this year is no different. Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs square off inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, this Saturday night (May 4, 2019) to arguably determine the best Middleweight pugilist on the planet.

Big fights mean big betting opportunities, and the bookies have delivered. Here are some of the “Canelo vs. Jacobs” prop bets (courtesy of 5dimes.eu):

Canelo Alvarez (-450) vs. Daniel Jacobs (+360)

Jacobs / Alvarez goes distance -200
Fight won’t go distance +170
Jacobs wins inside distance +800
Not Jacobs inside distance -1475
Jacobs wins by 12 round decision +595
Not Jacobs by 12 round decision -1035
Alvarez wins inside distance +219
Not Alvarez inside distance -279
Alvarez wins by 12 round decision -109
Not Alvarez by 12 round decision -121
Jacobs / Alvarez draw +2000
Fight not a draw -3000

There are a heap of other options on 5Dimes, including whether the fight ends in an even- or odd-numbered round, but I’m leaving those off for readability’s stake.

Thoughts: Canelo by decision at -109 is super tempting. Historically, every close decision of Canelo’s career has come out in his favor, be it a win or a draw. In addition, he’s incredibly unlikely to get stopped barring a freak injury or cut — Jacobs hits hard, but not hard enough to do what 72 minutes of sustained fire from Gennady Golovkin couldn’t.

There’s the concern that Canelo could turn out Jacobs’ lights, but “Miracle Man” has historically been difficult to put down outside of a truly monumental chopping right from Dmitry Pirog nearly a decade ago. Golovkin only managed to drop Jacobs once, and even that wasn’t a hard knockdown.

I just don’t see Canelo losing a decision in what’s essentially become his home turf, especially with the same judging crew that awarded him victory in the Golovkin rematch. In short, near-even odds make for an excellent bargain.

Remember, MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE coverage of Saturday’s main event. The DAZN broadcast (free trial here) kicks off with the undercard at 7:30 p.m. ET, while Canelo and Jacobs enter the ring closer to midnight.
