Round 7: Jacobs starts the round in southpaw, while Canelo starts aggressive, chasing Jacobs around the ring and landing as he does. They then settle into what’s become the rhythm of this fight – Jacobs throwing, but not with enough conviction to impact Canelo, while Canelo lands some with power every round. Jacobs picks up the pace in the closing seconds, but again Canelo’s defense keeps him largely safe. 10-9 Canelo
Round 8: Jacobs manages to get Canelo against the ropes here and pour on the pressure, seeming to get the round moving in his direction. But Canelo punches his way off the ropes and lands a lot, both coming off and once they are back in the middle. Jacobs makes one final push in the final seconds of the round – maybe enough to take the round back. 10-9 Jacobs
Round 9: Jacobs lands his cleanest punch of the night this round, a clean hook that snaps Canelo’s head back but Canelo hides the impact well. He did manage to land some in the minute after that punch as well, while Canelo wasn’t quite as effective this round as he has been. 10-9 Jacobs
