Former middleweight title challenger Jared Cannonier will mix it up with No. 12-ranked contender Caio Borralho atop the upcoming UFC Vegas 96 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, scheduled for Sat., Aug. 24, 2024 on ESPN and ESPN+ at APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 40 year-old Cannonier (17-7) is looking to rebound from a technical knockout loss to middleweight contender Nassourdine Imavov as part of the UFC Louisville fight card back in June, a hasty referee stoppage that was not without its share of controversy.
As for Borralho, 31, he improved to 16-1 (1 NC) with his second-round knockout victory over Paul Craig at UFC 301 earlier this year in Brazil. The Brazilian is undefeated under the UFC banner at 6-0 after scoring two wins on Dana White’s “Contender Series” in 2021.
UFC Vegas 96 will also feature the middleweight mashup between Gerald Meerschaert and Edmen Shahbazyan. Elsewhere on the card, Neil Magny collides with Michael Morales at welterweight, not long after Angela Hill and Tabatha Ricci hook ‘em up at 115 pounds.
