When the guy in charge of your training camp diet is “Italian born and raised,” you can expect to have some pasta from time-to-time. I’m not Italian and I never cut weight for a fight, but I did have spaghetti and meatballs at Buca di Beppo last month in Las Vegas so I do feel like something of an expert on the matter.

Undefeated middleweight phenom, Khamzat Chimaev, appears ready to move past his previous weight struggles and to help get “Borz” in fighting shape for the upcoming UFC 308 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Oct. 26 in Abu Dhabi, handlers have enlisted the services of food scientist Matteo Capodaglio.

I never heard of him, but UFC play-by-play man Jon Anik follows him on social media so that’s good enough for me.

“New beginnings,” Capodaglio wrote on Instagram. “I’m delighted to be part of Khamzat Chimaev’s camp for his UFC 308 fight in Abu Dhabi. Today, we started with athletes’ favorite pasta with tomato sauce.”

Chimaev is scheduled to face former 185-pound champion Robert Whittaker (again) in the UFC 308 middleweight co-main event.

The former welterweight has become so unreliable over the last few years that sportsbooks started taking action on whether or not Chimaev would even make it to the scale for his long-overdue “Reaper” fight in Abu Dhabi, regardless of weight.
