Don’t expect to see Carlos Condit anytime soon.

The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim welterweight champion wants an immediate rematch against Robbie Lawler after a razor-thin — and perhaps controversial — split-decision loss to “Ruthless” in the UFC 195 championship main event just last month.

Unfortunately, the bottleneck at the top of the 170-pound ladder could give him pause.

“He met with the UFC last week and he’s in a holding pattern right now,” Ariel Helwani told UFC Tonight. “He wants a rematch with Lawler, but Conor McGregor may move up to 170 if he wins in March. Also, if GSP comes back, he might get the title fight next. Carlos says he wants a title shot and might sit on the sidelines if he doesn’t get it.”

At just 31, time is still on his side.

It doesn’t help that top-ranked welterweight contender Tyron Woodley was promised the next crack at the crown and “The Chosen One” holds a win over Condit from their fight at UFC 171. In addition, Stephen Thompson blasted his way into the title discussion by felling ex-champ Johny Hendricks.

Decisions, decisions.
