New England’s longest running MMA promotion, Reality Fighting, returns live on the GFL Combat Sports Network on October 8 from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with a stacked 13-bout card headlined by three title fights.
In the main event, Reality Fighting Heavyweight Champion Parker Porter (5-2) defends his belt against former UFC Heavyweight Title Challenger Gabriel “Napao” Gonzaga (11-6). Gonzaga last competed for a title inside the Octagon against Randy Couture at UFC 74. The Brazilian transplant, Gonzaga, will be looking to win his first MMA Championship in his stellar career. For the Champ, Porter, he is looking to make a statement against the one-time hottest heavyweight prospect in the sport. Porter is a hulk of a man who usually has the size and strength advantage. Gonzaga will be the first opponent Porter fights who equals him in strength and stature. Look for Porter to be throwing haymakers from the opening bell with Gonzaga looking for a takedown to try and finish the fight on the mat.
In the co-main event, the Reality Fighting Lightweight Title will also be on the line when Champion Matt Bessette (7-2) defends against #1 contender Joe Proctor (6-1). Bessette is on a 4-fight win streak and will look to keep that momentum and his title against the tough and determined Proctor who is on a two-fight win streak of his own and has only tasted defeat once in his career. Both gladiators bring a high-paced style into the cage and are known for their grappling skills and ability to finish fights with submissions. Expect this match to be a grappling clinic if it goes to the ground. It could also be a wild brawl if the two decide to keep it standing.
In the remaining title fight of the night, undefeated Reality Fighting Bantamweight Champion John McLaughlin (4-0) faces undefeated challenger Emil Haddad (2-0). McLaughlin is coming off of an impressive victory with Bellator and is now ready to defend his Reality Fighting Title. For Haddad, this could be a career-defining fight in his short tenure as a victory over McLaughlin would not only make him the new champion at 135 lb, it would also turn a lot of heads and propel Haddad to the top of the food chain in the Bantamweight division on the East Coast.

In the main event of the evening, current Cut Throat MMA Lightweight Champion Eric “The Red” Rasmussen (3-1-3) defeated #1 Contender Dan “The North Avenue Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz (2-2) to retain his Lightweight Championship by decision. Rasmussen had a great game plan to attack Ortiz’ body in a five round fight and hope to wear down the challenger, but Ortiz would not give up and took a lot of punishment throughout the fight, but to his credit finished the fight and along with Rasmussen got a standing ovation when the final bell came. Both men were constantly firing shots off at one another and standing in the pocket just trading bombs. It was a great end to an overall exciting night of fights.
In the co-main event, for the vacant Cut Throat MMA Welterweight title, Danny “The Machine” Morales (9-2) defeated Martyn Jimenez (8-3-2) after an amazing finish in Round 1. Jimenez tried a flying armbar and Morales countered by catching Jiminez and then giving him a power bomb that knocked Jiminez out. Morales landed a punch on the mat for good measure before the referee stepped in. Morales goes home with the knockout of the night and is the new Cut Throat MMA Welterweight Champion.
