Henry Cejudo takes aim at Jose Aldo ahead of ‘Scarface’s’ fight with Marlon Moraes at UFC 245.
Step aside Jose Aldo, because there’s a new king in town.
During Henry Cejudo’s recent trip to Brazil, ‘The Messenger’ declared himself ‘The Real King of Rio’ in an Instagram post directed at Brazilian fan favorite Jose Aldo, who will be making his bantamweight debut against Marlon Moraes later this month at UFC 245.
“The Real King of Rio is here! #bendtheknee @josealdojunioroficial,” Cejudo posted on Monday.
‘Triple C’ will be keeping a close eye on Aldo now that ‘Scarface’ has made it clear he’s gunning for a title shot at 135 lbs. If Aldo beats Moraes at UFC 245, the former featherweight king will be next in line to fight Cejudo for the bantamweight belt.
Cejudo, 32, TKO’d Moraes at UFC 238 to capture the bantamweight title and become the promotion’s first ever simultaneous flyweight and bantamweight champ. The Olympic gold medallist formerly beat Demetrious Johnson to win the flyweight title in 2018 and went on to defend the belt against T.J. Dillashaw the following year, disposing of Dillashaw via first-round TKO in the UFC Fight Night 143 main event. It was later revealed that Dillashaw had tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs (EPO) and would serve a two-year suspension.
UFC 245, which features Moraes vs. Aldo on the main card, takes place later this month, Dec. 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
