We knew it was happening. Now we know when (and where).
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight champion, Henry Cejudo, will jump to the bantamweight division to battle top 135-pound contender, Marlon Moraes, at the UFC 238 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., June 8, 2019 inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
That’s according to “The Messenger,” who blabbed on The Ariel Helwani MMA Show during Monday’s appearance. The bantamweight belt became available after former champion, TJ Dillashaw, flunked his UFC Brooklyn drug test and surrendered his strap.
As for Aljamain Sterling, Cejudo told him to “wait in line.”
No word yet on what this pairing will do the flyweight division, which appears to be on life support after the departure of Demetrious Johnson, but I would have to imagine a victory for Cejudo would force him to resign his post at 125 pounds, much like Daniel Cormier did ahead of UFC 232.
Stay tuned.
