Think you’ve seen enough of Chael Sonnen? If so, you haven’t seen anything yet.
As anyone with even a vague awareness of mixed martial arts can tell you, the veteran fighter from West Linn, Ore. has kept busy since losing to Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 148.
He’s served as a studio analyst for the UFC as part of the Fuel TV broadcast team, and will appear in living rooms across the country on a weekly basis as part of the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite Jon Jones.
In case that’s not enough for you, Fighters Only announced on Monday that Sonnen will host the fifth annual World MMA Awards.
Sonnen, who returns to the event for the second straight year, will co-host with Molly Qerim in the event at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Jan. 11.
“Chael did a fantastic job as host last year and we are elated to be able to work with him again,” says Rob Hewitt, President and CEO of Fighters Only. “The commanding presence of Chael combined with the beauty and skill of Molly make the perfect partnership as hosts and we feel sure that they will make this years show even more entertaining.”
Voting is now under way for the best of the year in 21 categories across the MMA world. This includes MMA Media Source of the Year, for which MMAFighting.com is nominated, and MMA Journalist of the Year, for which MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani is looking for his third straight win. You can cast your ballot at WorldMMAAwards.com.
