Chael Sonnen gets poetic with his trash talk against Wanderlei Silva.
Expect Chael Sonnen to ramp up his trash talk against Wanderlei Silva in the lead-up to their highly anticipated, headlining bout at Bellator 180 on June 24.
‘The American Gangster’ kicked things off on Saturday by calling out ‘The Axe Murderer’ in a series of poetic tweets, claiming that ‘Wandy can’t fight’.

The former three-time UFC title challenger also took a dig at Tito Ortiz, who he claims verbally tapped in their light heavyweight bout at Bellator 170.

Sonnen did, in fact, lose to Ortiz in his Bellator debut, succumbing to a rear-naked choke in the very first round.
The 40-year-old has a rivalry with Silva dating back to 2013, when both men coached opposite one another on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3. Sonnen and Silva were expected to lock horns under the UFC banner, but the grudge match was cancelled after Silva refused to undergo a random drug drug test and Sonnen tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
Sonnen vs. Silva will now headline the blockbuster Bellator 180 pay-per-view, which also features a co-main event between heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko and Matt Mitrione. The event marks Bellator’s debut at Madison Square Garden in New York and is set to take place on June 24.
