Rory MacDonald recently made the revelation that he couldn’t pull the trigger during his Welterweight title defense against Jon Fitch at Bellator 220, which ultimately resulted in a majority draw. For “Red King,” his close relationship with God has really made him ponder whether or not punching people for his personal gain is inside him anymore.
Current Bellator Lightweight champion Michael Chandler, though, also talks to the man upstairs and says he informed him that beating the hell out of people is okay in his book.
“Unlike Rory MacDonald, I talk to my God every day and he’s completely fine with me beating the hell out of people.” (CHANDLER, Michael)

“Unlike Rory MacDonald, I talk to my God every day and he’s completely fine with me beating the hell out of people,” said Chandler during the recent Bellator presser to promote his upcoming title fight against Patricio Freire at Bellator 221 on May 11.

Still, Rory has his own different view and frankly should be commended for being honest about his mixed feelings, even if it could cost him future paydays such as this. That said, MacDonald will contemplate his combat sports career moving forward, which continues with his upcoming title defense agaisnt Neiman Gracie on June 22.
But those closest to MacDonald are confident “Red King” will clear his head and continue on his mixed marital arts (MMA) journey. Of course, losing the desire to hurt people is just one of several reasons to reconsider face-punching as a career.
