And here you thought greasing was a French-Canadian thing

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender, Rafael dos Anjos, is being called on the carpet in the wake of his unanimous decision loss to Colby Covington in the UFC 225 pay-per-view (PPV) main event last weekend in Chicago, Illinois (replay).

That’s because “Chaos” is claiming the Brazilian was greased up for their interim title fight, which lasted all five rounds (recap), making it much harder to get taken down and punished by the longtime wrestler.

Covington talks to BJ Penn Radio:

“I was gonna take him down and beat him up, but my takedowns weren’t as effective because he was definitely greasing. He was 100-percent greased. Usually, when I get those bodylocks behind you there’s no way to slip out, but I could feel him slip out, you know. He’s just another filthy animal, cheater greaser. I think before the fight he was putting on the coconut butter – whatever they do – and then the baby oil. He was definitely doing it. I tried a couple of shots on his legs and literally my hands slipped from up on top of his leg and he was able to like slither on through.”

Dos Anjos is not the only UFC 225 fighter accused of greasing.

No action is likely to take place because Covington emerged victorious, which not only earned him the substitute strap, but also a death match title-unification bout against reigning division kingpin Tyron Woodley.

As for Dos Anjos, he’ll head to the back of this line, joining fellow title hopefuls Stephen Thompson and Demian Maia, who came up short in their respective (and hopefully greaseless) bouts against Woodley and Covington.
