The No. 10 ranked bantamweight was scheduled to meet Aspen Ladd in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 32.

Macy Chiasson has explained the reason behind her withdrawal from UFC Vegas 32 on Saturday night.

On Thursday evening, UFC officials announced that the fight between her and Aspen Ladd was canceled due to an undisclosed injury. The announcement did not reveal who suffered the injury, but it was later determined that Chiasson was the one forced to withdraw.

Chiasson took to Instagram to clarify the injury she suffered, which was a stress fracture in one of her feet. She wrote that the stress fracture was something she already had going into the Ladd fight, but it was unfortunately re-injured during one of her final workouts this week.

Chiasson also apologized to Ladd, who she still wants to fight and hopes that the pairing can remain intact for a rescheduled date.

“Hey guys, I went into this fight with a stress fracture in my foot from camp,” wrote Chiasson. “Should have been in a boot instead, but was feeling good with it wrapped up. I then re-injured it last night working out before my cut. I can hardly walk at all much less fight. I just want to say I am so sorry and I was never more ready in my life for this fight. Unfortunately, this happens in sports. I really want everyone to see how great I’m fighting. I’m really hoping it will get rebooked for a later date. We have worked too hard for this. I just want to thank the [UFC] and [matchmaker Mick Maynard] for everything you do for us and for this opportunity.”

Chiasson did not give a timeline for which she can return from injury, so it is unknown how soon she can fight again. The No. 10 ranked bantamweight contender most recently competed at UFC on ESPN: Brunson vs. Holland, where she defeated Marion Reneau by way of unanimous decision.

The loss of Chiasson vs. Ladd — the original co-main event of UFC Vegas 32 — sees the card move forward with 11 scheduled fights.
