Macy Chiasson and Nicco Montano look to get back on track at UFC Rio Rancho in New Mexico.
Macy Chiasson and Nicco Montano will look to steady their footing in the competitive women’s 135-pound division when they square off at UFC Rio Rancho.
In one corner, a once white hot prospect in the women’s bantamweight division, and in the other, the inaugural women’s flyweight champion. Chiasson (5-1) was on a rocket ship up the rankings before she suffered her first professional loss to Lina Lansberg at UFC Copenhagen. Montano, meanwhile, has only fought once in a losing effort to Julianna Peña since beating Roxanne Modafferi for the the women’s featherweight title in December, 2017.
Both women are winners of The Ultimate Fighter. Chiasson was crowned the season 28 winner at featherweight while Montano won season 26 at flyweight. The fight between the two was first reported by the Albuquerque Journal.
UFC Rio Rancho takes place in New Mexico on Saturday, Feb. 15. A headlining fight between top light-heavyweight contenders Jan Blachowicz and Corey Anderson is in the works.
