While the entire combat sports world is enamored with Khamzat Chimaev, current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, is not. In fact, “The Last Stylebender” had some not-so nice things to say about “Borz,” dubbing him “rat lip” and stating that they hype is unwarranted since he’s yet to defeat anyone worthy of praise.
Even this 17-second knockout didn’t do anything for the Middleweight champ.
Now, Chimaev is firing back at the undefeated (19-0, 8-0 UFC) champion by telling him that his little insults just cost him his world title.
“What do you said about me it will cost you your belt if you’re still the champion, good luck,” he wrote on Twitter.
Chimaev has bounced around from Welterweight to Middleweight through his career, with four coming at 170 pounds, four at 185 pounds and the other at catchweight of 175 pounds. It’s that versatility that prompted former UFC champ-champ Daniel Cormier to proclaim that Chimaev would be the next person to hold two titles simultaneously for the promotion.
And he will do it as early as next year.
For now, Adaesanya and Chimaev’s paths won’t be crossing anytime soon since “The Last Stylebender” has much bigger fish to fry at the moment in the former of Paulo Costa, who he will face this Saturday night (Sept. 26, 2020) in the main event of UFC 253 on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Chimaev, meanwhile, is in talks to face Demian Maia — also on “Fight Island” — sometime next month.
