A pivotal bout at 205 pounds is headed for the west coast of Canada in September.
Rising prospect Jimmy Crute will look to earn his biggest win to date later this summer.
A light heavyweight bout between Misha Cirkunov and Crute is set for UFC Vancouver on Sept. 14, promotion officials announced Monday. MMA DNA first reported the pairing.
Cirkunov is coming off a brutal knockout loss to rising star Johnny Walker at UFC 235 in March. Prior to that, he submitted Patrick Cummins at UFC Moncton late last year. After starting his Octagon career with four straight victories, the 32-year-old has lost three of his last four.
Crute is one of the more promising young fighters at 205 pounds currently. 2-0 in the promotion, “The Brute” last defeated veteran Sam Alvey by first-round TKO at UFC 234 in February. Crute signed with the UFC last year after a win on Dana White’s Contender Series.
No main event has been announced for UFC Vancouver. Also on the card, Uriah Hall meets Antonio Carlos Junior, and David Branch faces Andrew Sanchez — both in the middleweight division.
