This figures to be much better than Gane’s last fight.

Ciryl Gane is getting another main event fight, and it’s one that will surely be much more entertaining than his last one.

ESPN reported that a showdown between the French heavyweight contender and Russia’s Alexander Volkov is lined up for a Fight Night on June 26th. No location or venue has been announced but both sides have agreed to the matchup.

Gane (8-0) is coming off a very dull decision win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik, although truth be told much of that was due to Rozenstruik’s inactivity. Preceding that bout was an emphatic TKO stoppage of former UFC champion Junior dos Santos, his first and so far only knockout win inside the Octagon.

Volkov (33-8) thrashed Alistair Overeem a mere three weeks before Gane’s victory against Rozenstruik. The former Bellator heavyweight champion has only lost to Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis in his UFC career, while boasting other notable wins over Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve, Walt Harris, and Greg Hardy.

Current UFC rankings have Gane at #4 and Volkov at #5, so this is a biggie as the division looks for new title challengers.
