The presence of City Kickboxing will definitely be felt at UFC 259.
More City Kickboxing teammates have been added to UFC 259 as Kai Kara-France and Carlos Ulberg have been given assignments for their upcoming appearances.
Combate first reported Kara-France will be meeting fellow flyweight contender Rogerio Bontorin while Christopher Reive of NZ Herald reported the promotional debut of Ulberg against Kennedy Nzechukwu. Both fights have since been confirmed by UFC officials on their social media accounts.
Kara-France went 1-1 in 2020. He fought at UFC Fight Night: Felder vs. Hooker in February against Tyson Nam, who he defeated by way of unanimous decision. Kara-France then returned in September at UFC 253 and was submitted with a guillotine choke in a ‘Fight of the Night’ showing against Brandon Royval.
Bontorin is also looking to rebound from a loss as he suffered his first in the UFC against Ray Borg at UFC Fight Night: Anderson vs. Blachowicz 2. Prior to the Borg loss, Bontorin earned a split decision over Magomed Bibulatov at UFC Fight Night: Assuncao vs. Moraes 2 and a technical knockout over Raulian Paiva at UFC Fight Night: Shevchenko vs. Carmouche 2 respectively.
Ulberg is set to step foot inside the Octagon for the first time following a successful contract-awarded performance on an episode of Dana White’s Contender Series. He meets another DWCS contestant in Nzechukwu, who is coming into the fight off of a unanimous decision win over Darko Stosic.
UFC 259 will be headlined by a champion vs. champion fight between light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
