Watch the post-fight interview of ‘No Love’ Cody Garbrandt.
Just as he predicted, Team Alpha Male standout Cody Garbrandt viciously knocked out unbeaten Brazilian prospect Thomas Almeida in the main event of last Sunday’s UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas. In the post-fight interview for the UFC’s official YouTube channel, Garbrandt reflected on the biggest win of his young career.
“I knew I was gonna knock him out, like I said, in the first round, I knew that he had a suspect chin,” Garbrandt said. “He’s a phenomenal warrior, four fight night bonuses, I take nothing from him. I wanted to fight him, I knew stylistically that’s a great win for me. I knew I was gonna knock him out. I knew I was gonna exploit his weaknesses with my boxing and his style.”
Garbrandt did in under three minutes and collected the ninth win of his professional career. With a couple of high-profile bantamweight fights coming up in the near future, the question arises when and against whom the unbeaten 24-year old knockout artist will fight next.
“I would definitely say Cleveland, UFC 203,” he said. “Against whoever. Whoever’s gonna get me to a title shot or whatever. I wanna be the best in the world and get that world championship!”
UFC 2013 takes place September 10 in Cleveland, Ohio, and is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem.
