Long before she was released by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), former bantamweight title contender, Cat Zingano, was pining for a potential showdown against ex-featherweight champion, Cristiane Justino.

Unfortunately for “Alpha,” that contest never made it to the negotiating table, thanks to a recurring battle with injuries, along with some other behind-the-scenes drama. In addition, “Cyborg” was let go in the wake of her feud with UFC President, Dana White.

But hope is not lost.

That’s because both Zingano and Justino are currently free agents. If former Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, who nows steers the ship for Bellator MMA, is able to get both female fighters under his employ, then fight fans could have the biggest women’s bout outside of UFC since “Carano vs. Cyborg.”

We just need for that pesky paperwork to be taken care of.

“We’ll have to make sure, but if she is completely free, then we should have a conversation,” Coker told MMA Fighting about the possibility of signing Zingano.

As for Justino, she’s likely fielding offers from other organizations, like ONE Championship and RIZIN Fighting Federation, among others, so we may not have any definitive answers for the next several weeks.
