The action will be simulcast on Univision (12 a.m. ET/PT) and Univision Deportes Network (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT).
Combate Americas is kicking off the second half of its 2018 fight campaign with a slam-bang mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card, featuring the highly-anticipated bantamweight showdown between “Copa Combate” tournament champion Levy Marroquin and division spoiler Jose Alday, who upset John Castaneda back in April.
The winner will be crowned the promotion’s first-ever 135-pound champion, but unlike most title fights, “Marroquin vs. Alday” will be contested over three rounds, which is expected to give each fighter a greater sense of urgency.
In short, be prepared for first-round fireworks.
“MMA now stands for ‘Mucho Más Acción,’ and this is exactly what the world is going to see with a three-round title fight – more action in a shorter, faster and superior format that serves Combate Americas’ younger, millennial audience perfectly,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren.
Elsewhere on the Sept. 14 fight card, held live from inside Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz. on both Univision (12 a.m. ET/PT) and Univision Deportes Network (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT), women’s flyweight prospect and Invicta FC veteran Tracy Cortez (3-1) will defend her hometown turf against grizzled 125-pound up-and-comer Brandi Narvaez.
“We are thrilled to deliver another season of Combate Americas to our viewers and broadcast its first-ever world championship match,” said Juan Carlos Rodríguez, president, Univision Deportes. “We look forward to treating MMA fans to all the action of one of the most popular sports today with Univision Deportes’ best-in-class sports production.”
Priced from $30, tickets for the Combate Americas world championship MMA extravaganza are on sale at CelebrityTheatre.com and Ticketon.com.
