LAS VEGAS – When Japanese superstar Takanori Gomi made his UFC debut, hardcore fans knew what the former PRIDE and Shooto
champion was bringing to the cage.
But after a lackluster effort in a March 2010 loss to Kenny Florian,
casual fans must have wondered what all the hoopla was all about.
However, when Gomi rebounded in August with a devastating knockout win
over Tyson Griffin, the excitement returned. Now, with Gomi preparing to
face fan-favorite Clay Guida at Saturday’s UFC 125
event, “The Fireball Kid” said his sights are set squarely
on the UFC’s lightweight title.
