New Jersey State Athletic Control Board is sort of like Encanto: They don’t talk about Bruno.
UFC middleweight bruiser Bruno Silva filed an appeal with “Garden State” regulators earlier this year in hopes of changing his UFC Atlantic City loss to Chris Weidman to a “No Contest,” citing multiple eye pokes that led to a third round technical decision.
Silva’s manager told MMA Fighting the appeal was recently denied.
I think it’s worth noting that Silva’s nickname is “Blindado,” which I find unintentionally hilarious. Translated into English it means “armored,” which proved to be false, at least in terms of his aching eyeballs.
Weidman suggested Silva was “looking for a way out” during the fight, while other interested observers accused the Brazilian of flopping to the ground like an overly-dramatic soccer player trying to sell a foul for the referee.
Neither fighter has competed since their late March showdown and a rematch is unlikely.
