Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit gave mixed martial arts (MMA) fans “Fight of the Night” when they went to war at the UFC 115 pay-per-view (PPV) event back in summer 2010. And despite losing by technical knockout in the final seconds of round three, “Red King” must have liked what he saw, because he wants to get more of it.
That’s why “The Natural Born Killer” is headed up north to train with MacDonald at Tristar gym in Montreal, alongside head coach Firas Zahabi, as the Canadian prepares for his Bellator MMA title fight later this year.
“I’m actually sending Carlos Condit up to Tristar,” Coach Brandon Gibson told The MMA Hour. “He’s gonna get a little work in with Rory and Firas and help Rory for the Mousasi fight. So I’m happy that Carlos gets to go out there and get a new look and pick up some new tools and get a new atmosphere and environment.”
I wonder is this former rival will be there to welcome him.
Condit (30-12) is known as one of the best all-around fighters to ever grace the welterweight division, evidenced by a near-even 15 knockouts and 13 submissions for a total of 28 finishes in 30 professional wins.
Whether or not that rubs off on MacDonald remains to be seen.
