Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit will look to snap a five-fight losing streak when he returns for a 170-pound showdown opposite veteran bruiser Court McGee, presumably on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi.
“The Natural Born Killer” announced the matchup on “The Buck and Dex” podcast.
There was a time when Condit (30-13) was ranked No. 1 in the world behind then-champion Georges St-Pierre. These days, the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) welterweight champion can’t even crack the Top 15.
As for McGee (19-9), who rose to fame on season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), his biggest win to date came over Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 27 back in summer 2013, the same card that saw Condit, now 36, avenge his loss to Martin Kampmann.
The promotion’s Oct. 3 card will be headlined by the bantamweight showdown between ex-champion Holly Holm and division slugger Irene Aldana. Elsewhere on the card, Andrei Arlovski and Tanner Boser hook ‘em up in heavyweight action.
