Is Conor McGregor turning a new leaf when it comes to trash talking his opponents? The Irish sports star says he intends to be calm and composed leading into UFC 303.

Conor McGregor is a man of many faces, and we’re curious to see which one he’ll put on as we come into his big comeback fight against Michael Chandler on June 29th.

There was respectful McGregor, who we saw in the lead-up to the second Dustin Poirier fight at UFC 257. Super villain McGregor returned for the third fight with Poirier at UFC 264. According to Conor himself, the “Notorious” we see at UFC 303 will be cold and collected.

“I’m calm, I’m composed, and I’m cold in the soul for this man.” Conor McGregor said in an interview with his MMA news website The Mac Life. “This whole thing, I’m coming back with a vengeance and I’m coming back with skill. I’m excited to show my skills. I’m in a great place mentally, physically, and spiritually. Five weeks, five days time, we’re back on the horse. Giddy up!”

McGregor has been known to wage mental warfare on his opponent with endless heated trash talk. That may be a thing of the past, says McGregor.

“I don’t think I’ll go to that level again,” he declared. “It doesn’t serve a purpose, and it doesn’t serve me well. You remain cold to the situation, you remain emotionless. It’s a blank face and a specific body type. He has his set movements, his set patterns he moves in, and his set shots and I’m aware of them. I’m preparing for a multitude of outcomes and just getting myself ready as I can be. I’m confident that all my shots will land.”

McGregor may say he’s turned a new leaf, but on the same day he suggested his trash talking era was done with, he dropped some wild one-liners on half the UFC roster.

Conor can’t help but get into it with everybody, and while we appreciate the aspirational quality to his comments, we don’t buy it. McGregor was on his best behavior for The Mac Life interview, but it didn’t last long. He was still wearing the same shirt while dropping verbal bombs during a Duelbits Q&A.
