The January 20th UFC 197 press conference may only barely be over and in the books, but Conor McGregor has already come out of it with a signature soundbite.
Not long ago, TMZ found Conor McGregor on the street and, as they are wont to do, asked him a bunch of random questions to see what kind of ridiculous thing he might say. McGregor told them that he’d whoop Jesus’ ass.
“There’s not a man alive that can beat me, but Jesus ain’t alive, so I don’t fucking know. Maybe he could come back from the dead. I don’t know. I’d still whoop his ass.”
Today, at the UFC 197 presser, during the Fan Q&A, a fan asked Rafael dos Anjos about Conor’s Christ punching ethics, and how they related to RDA’s personal religious beliefs.
“I think, when a guy say something like that, he has no respect for anybody” Dos Anjos responded. “I’m just a single tool in Jesus’ hand and on March 5th, he will feel what a single tool in Jesus’ hand can do with him.”
So, is Conor McGregor living in fear of divine wrath, as meted out by the UFC lightweight champion? In a word: No.
“Me and Jesus are cool,” McGregor told fans in continuation of RDA’s question. “I’m cool with all the gods. Gods recognize gods.”
Church services will be held Saturday, March 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
