Conor McGregor congratulates former WSOF champion Justin Gaethje on his latest win inside of the Octagon. Although McGregor announced his retirement from the sport of MMA, he’s still keeping an eye on things.
The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion has been in the headlines as of late. He announced his retirement but many people think the reason he announced his retirement was a negotiation tactic for getting more money from the UFC.
Then news broke of his alleged sexual assault case in Ireland through the mainstream media. The former champ is also dealing with an issue after smashing a man’s phone outside of a night club.
Gaethje scored a first-round knockout of Edson Barboza in the headliner of UFC Philadelphia. After the fight, McGregor took to his official Twitter account where he congratulated Gathje. He wrote the following:
“That was well done all the way through,” wrote McGregor. “Congratulations Justin.”
McGregor was also recently cleared from his infamous Brooklyn bus attack last spring as he had “fulfilled the terms of a plea agreement.” This comes after he completed his mandated five-day church service in Brooklyn earlier this month. The judge ordered him to do 5 days of community service and complete an anger management course.
Whether the former UFC champion comes out of retirement for a second time in order to make his UFC return remains to be seen. He had been in talks with the UFC for a fight in July during International Fight Week.
