Conor McGregor teases of a showdown with UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman.
If Conor McGregor’s latest Tweet is anything to go by, the Irishman is looking to become the UFC’s first-ever three-weight world champion.
‘The Notorious’ posted the following Tweet after Kamaru Usman beat Colby Covington yesterday evening in the UFC 245 main event to retain his welterweight title.
145. 155. 170.

“145. 155. 170,” McGregor wrote, clearly hinting at a title fight versus ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.
McGregor, the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champ, will return to the Octagon next month on Jan. 18 to take on Donald Cerrone in the UFC 246 main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout will be contested at 170 lbs., and McGregor is clearly hoping a win over ‘Cowboy’ will fast track him into title contention. The Irishman last fought in October of 2018, when he was submitted by undefeated lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov in the UFC 229 main event.
Usman, who has a notable size advantage over McGregor, earned a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus for his championship epic with Covington. Both men stood toe-to-toe in the centre of the Octagon and swung leather for almost twenty five minutes, with Usman eventually finishing Covington after dropping him in the fifth round.
