As a guest on the Conan show, Conor McGregor said he was ready for the rigors of going 12 rounds with Floyd Mayweather.
With 10 days to go before the big August 26th showdown between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr., the media tour is kicking into high gear again. With Mayweather heading on over to Jimmy Kimmel Live, McGregor has made a series of appearances on American talk shows, and the latest bit was what looked like a pre-taped interview on the Conan show on TBS.
After showing a two-year-old clip of Conor saying he would “dismantle” Mayweather if they ever fought, Mr. O’Brien asked him a few questions about the fight. McGregor reiterated that he would finish Floyd inside four rounds, and talked about making history at first, with the crowd applauding everything he had to say.
Finally, Conan asked him about Floyd’s comments regarding McGregor’s cardio – specifically that he won’t be able to go twelve rounds in a boxing match:
“Yeah, we’ve made slight adjustments in my cardio preparation. It’s actually been very enjoyable to go from five five-minute rounds, which is what we’re used to, which is 25 minutes, to 12 three-minute rounds of boxing, which is 36 minutes. Slight adjustments, but we are more than ready. I’ve done 12 rounds last night, I’ve done multiple 12-round fights in the gym in the leadup to this. We are more than ready.
“Floyd is praying for me to fatigue in there, but I will not fatigue. I will continue to press forward, and I will break him. At 40 years of age, he will not sustain my pace. So, that is it.”
