After Conor McGregor’s big win at UFC 202, oddsmakers have set lines for a possible future rubber match with rival Nate Diaz.
With Conor McGregor evening up the score with foil Nate Diaz at UFC 202, talk has been rampant about a trilogy match. McGregor talked about it even before the fight. Diaz talked about it immediately after the fight. Now the oddsmakers have offered their take on the trilogy.
After closing in most books as a -130 to -150 favorite heading into the second contest, McGregor opened up on the odds for their third contest with a line a bit more in his favor according to BetOnline (via OddsShark):
Conor McGregor -170
Nate Diaz +145
Immediately after the scores were read to declare McGregor the winner, he stated in his post-fight interview he wanted the third contest to take place at 155. In his post-fight interview, Diaz stated he wasn’t taking any other fight until he got a third fight against McGregor.
McGregor had been pushed by the UFC brass to defend his featherweight title following his second fight with Diaz, something he hasn’t done since wresting it from Jose Aldo in December at UFC 194. Pressure has been mounting for him to drop the title if he doesn’t. McGregor himself hinted the possibility of him taking a fight with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather next. The Notorious One seems to have plenty of options at his disposal, meaning we may have to wait a while before witnessing the conclusion of this rivalry.
