Conor McGregor praises teammate Artem Lobov for gutsy performance at UFC Nashville

Despite Lobov’s main event loss to Cub Swanson, teammate McGregor had his praise for ‘The Russian Hammer’.

UFC Fight Night 108’s main event between Cub Swanson and Artem Lobov wasn’t quite the one-sided drubbing many fans had expected heading into the bout.

Swanson, the No. 4 ranked featherweight in the world, soundly beat Lobov via unanimous decision and bloodied his opponent up, but the SBG Ireland product gutted it out until the end.

His long time friend and teammate, UFC star Conor McGregor, congratulated Lobov for his performance and praised him for never backing down throughout his career.

“That was a great fight. Proud of my brother Artem! What a ride it’s been for the Russian Hammer. In a career filled with ups and downs he has never backed down from anything. Nothing but love and respect always my brother.”

Lobov was on a two-fight win streak heading into his bout against Swanson but was noted for his underwhelming 13-12 professional record. The Russian-born fighter is now 13-13 and has only suffered one knockout loss in his career.

Lobov gave credit to Swanson for the win and, despite losing, is pleased that he delivered an entertaining fight for the fans.
