Conor McGregor, responding to allegations of racist behavior, said Thursday that he’s “half-black from the belly button down.”
During the third stop on the promotional tour for his Aug. 26 fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., McGregor took the stage at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and took aim at those who have said he’s made insensitive comments in recent days.
“Do they not know I’m half black?” he said, according to MMAFighting.com. “I’m half-black from the belly button down.”
McGregor later told reporters the allegations “didn’t sit well” with him and that he’s a “multi-cultured individual” who “doesn’t even see color,” via B/R’s Alex Larsen:
Those comments came a day after the UFC lightweight champion appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and made a remark about Rocky III that was viewed as racist.
“Rocky III?” McGregor said, per USA Today‘s A.J. Perez. “I’m trying to remember which one was Rocky III. Was that the one in the celebrity gym? I can’t remember if that’s the one with the dancing monkeys or not.”
McGregor also yelled, “Dance for me, boy!” at Mayweather during their first two tour stops in Los Angeles and Toronto.
The press tour will conclude Friday in London.
