We may never get to see Conor vs Floyd in the ring, but at least we’ll have this classic ‘Mike Tyson’s Punch Out’ version of the fight …
A Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather superfight may not be close to coming together, but that doesn’t mean fans aren’t having fun imagining how a scrap between the top fighters in boxing and MMA would go down. Latest to visualize the fight in entertaining fashion is YouTuber Adam Arnali, who created a parody of the classic NES game Mike Tyson’s Punch Out with McGregor and Mayweather battling it out.
Arnali gives a pretty realistic play by play of how things would go down – a lot of hugging and McGregor missing Mayweather, with Mayweather hitting Conor just enough to edge him on the scorecards for each round. Of course Conor would win if this was an MMA match, and so the fight ends with a frustrated McGregor hitting his opponent with a headkick and smashing his face in with some ground and pound.
It’s probably a more satisfying end to the fight than we’d get in real life … assuming the fight ever happens. But for months the match up has been dismissed as nothing more than hype for both fighters. Now all of a sudden reporters close to both camps are starting to report that both Conor and Floyd are dead set on making it happen. And why not? Who doesn’t want to make the money that comes from a two million+ pay-per-view event? Whether the fighters can figure out a way to do it and keep the UFC from pocketing most of the cash is the real question now.
