Is Paulie Malignaggi ever going to get an opportunity to prove Conor McGregor didn’t outclass him during their sparring matches in the lead-up to McGregor vs. Mayweather? If I were a betting man, I’d say no. But that doesn’t mean a potential fight isn’t there, ready and capable of making a ton of money should McGregor decide that’s what he wants to do next.
There’s even some powerful people out there bouncing the idea around. One of them is boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, whose roster currently includes Anthony Joshua and Amir Khan.
“I said to (Malignaggi) this morning, I’d love to do it,” Hearn said in a video from iFL TV. “DAZN, Oh they’d pay a lot of money for that fight.”
That may sound crazy at first, but keep in mind DAZN just signed a $365 million deal with Canelo Alvarez.
”I said it to Conor McGregor’s guys – I’m going to float them the numbers to them see what they think,” he continued. “Why not? As I said to Conor McGregor’s guys, maybe he can beat Paulie Malignaggi, I don’t know. I don’t think he beats Khabib. [Paulie’s] been living the good life since he’s been retired so you never know how he’s going to be coming back.”
What do you think, Maniacs? Any interest in this fight?
