The first odds are out for Cormier vs. Lesnar, and is it any surprise they’re in favor of new champ champ Cormier.

People may be pretty excited at the prospect of a Brock Lesnar vs. double champ Daniel Cormier fight, but the experts are making it pretty clear who they think will win the bout. BetDSI released betting odds on the potential superfight, and they have Daniel Cormier opening at -260 favorite and Brock Lesnar a +200 underdog. That means it would take a $260 bet on Cormier to earn you $100, and a $100 bet on Lesnar to win an additional $200.

After witnessing Daniel Cormier move up from light heavyweight to finish heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic, it shouldn’t be surprising that he’d be given the nod over WWE superstar Lesnar. Lesnar used his NCAA championship level wrestling to earn a decision over Mark Hunt at UFC 200 (a win that would later be overturned due to a failed drug test), but those tools won’t be as effective against Cormier, who made it onto the US Olympic freestyle wrestling team twice.

Ronda Rousey used to go into her fights a -1000 to -1700 favorite at her peak, so these aren’t blowout odds by any stretch. But neither are they close, with your typical pick ‘em match-up sitting with both fighters in the 100s. The odds for Cormier vs. Lesnar are also closer than the odds given for the now-discarded Brock Lesnar vs. Jon Jones fight, which had Jones a -350 favorite to the +265 dog Lesnar.

Now we just have to wait and see what the odds are on Lesnar making it through the USADA six month testing period.
