Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title contender, Yoel Romero, was spreading gossip about fellow 185-pound contender, Paulo Costa, in the lead up to their most recent fight booking, suggesting “The Eraser” was using performance-enhancing drugs.
BIG. MISTAKE.
The Brazilian did earn himself a six-month suspension for breaking the rules, but that came as the result of an illegal IV, not steroids, despite past accusations from “stupid” surf dudes like Kelly Slater, who should leave their salt in the seven seas.
“Yoel Romero needs to understand this is personal,” Costa told ESPN. “He’s a liar. He’s a Soldier of God? How can he call himself a Soldier of God if he is spreading gossip? He’s a soldier of devil for spreading lies. And he’s going to pay. Now is the time for him to pay.”
The promotion will once again look to pair these two off, this time at the upcoming UFC 241: “Cormier vs. Miocic 2” pay-per-view (PPV) extravaganza, scheduled for Sat., Aug. 17, 2019 inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Romero (13-3) hasn’t been seen since his five-round unanimous decision loss to Robert Whittaker at UFC 225 last July. It was the second time “Soldier of God” came up empty against “The Reaper,” his only two defeats inside the Octagon.
As for Costa (12-0), he’s been gone equally long. “The Eraser” last competed against Uriah Hall at UFC 226, also in July 2018, canceling “Prime Time” by way of second-round technical knockout, extending his finish streak to 12.
So, who wins this 185-pound grudge match?
