It’s here! The Countdown to UFC 246 video has been released and it’s full of behind the scenes footage of Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns for its first show of 2020 and boy are they starting things with a bang. Conor McGregor returns to face off against fan favorite Donald Cerrone in what has been billed by McGregor and his team as just the first fight of a ‘season’ of fights. Who knows how this season will unfold.

Will McGregor defeat Cerrone and position himself as a power player in both the welterweight and lightweight division? Who could he fight next, if Khabib Nurmagomedov sticks to his guns about refusing to rematch the Irishman after a win over Cowboy? And will that fight set up the inevitable rematch between the two by the end of the year?

Or, as Dana White has noted, are we being wildly disrespectful to Donald Cerrone by continuing to talk about what happens after McGregor wins, as if it was a foregone conclusion? Is UFC 246 actually the story of “Cowboy” rising to the occasion and pulling off the biggest win of his illustrious and record setting career? Both possibilities are laid bare in the Countdown to UFC 246 video just released by the organization to sell you on this fight that really needs no extra promotion.

The UFC has managed to give us goosebumps with previous promo trailers for UFC 246, and the same amount of care has been spent making this Countdown show extra special. Normally these shows are split between the main and co-main event, but this one focuses solely on McGregor vs. Cerrone, giving a mere mention to Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington and Anthony Pettis vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira on the undercard.

Can’t say we blame them.
