Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to postpone the heavyweight matchup between Shamil Abdurakhimov and Chris Daukaus, which waves goodbye to UFC Vegas 32 this weekend in Las Vegas and says hello to UFC Vegas 33 on July 31, also in “Sin City.”
“Monday’s suck,” Daukaus wrote on social media. “Fight pushed back until next week. COVID strikes again! Thank you for everyone for the support!”
A positive COVID-19 test in the Abdurakhimov camp was to blame for the change in dates, according to MMA Junkie, reducing the UFC Vegas 32 “Prelims” card to just six fights.
Abdurakhimov (20-5) is looking to rebound from his technical knockout loss to Curtis Blaydes at UFC 242 back in late 2019. As for Daukaus (11-3), he’s the winner of four straight, including last February’s first-round finish over Alexey Oleynik.
