Covington chirps Nick Diaz: ‘You’re only beating women these days’

Never one to keep quiet, Colby Covington has responded to Nick Diaz’s challenge of Daniel Cormier from earlier this week.

Whenever anyone says anything remotely controversial in MMA, especially if it’s someone that might compete in his division, you can count on UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington to have something to say about it. After all, that’s how he has built his brand. So when Nick Diaz emerged from the shadows to call out new heavyweight champ Daniel Cormer this week, it was only a matter of time before Colby got involved.

And now he has.

Covington took to Twitter to offer a long response to Diaz, bringing up his current domestic violence investigation among other things:

“.@nickdiaz209 Holy shit I didn’t know you could tweet from prison? Watch your mouth when youre speaking about the #NattyGOAT. Youre only beating women these days, you ain’t beating anybody relevant you fucking loser. Shut your f—king mouth before I shut it for you… homie!”

I mean, what can you say about this? It’s remarkably stupid, even for Covington. Sometimes you just shouldn’t go there, and this is one of those times. That’s never stopped him before though, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

Covington is expected to return to the Octagon near the end of the year to meet full welterweight champ Tyron Woodley. As usual, Diaz’s MMA situation is up in the air.
