UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington ends his mini rift with UFC analyst Joe Rogan.
UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington has been making a lot of noise through many provocative words thrown at fighters and MMA personalities. Through the course of these self-marketing efforts, he has managed to create rifts with the likes of Fabricio Werdum, Jon Jones, and even UFC analyst Joe Rogan.
When asked if he could take back any of his words or actions, Covington did mention one thing.
“I live with no regrets. I don’t think I’ve said anything that’s crossed the line,” Covington told MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani in a pre-fight interview. “If I’ve said anything that’s wrong, probably going after Joe Rogan. I didn’t really mean to attack Joe Rogan. He’s gonna get a pass because I got a title fight and a lot of money to make.”
“If there’s anything I regret, there’s one thing, it’s probably going after Joe Rogan.”
The beef between the two men began when Rogan warned Covington about his remarks towards Jon Jones. “Chaos” did not take it well, threatening to slap the veteran broadcaster and confronting him at UFC 225.
The quick turnaround, however, came when Covington realized a common connection between them.
“That is an unformal apology,” Covington said. “I was just thinking, my good friend Cameron Hanes, who’s friends with Joe Rogan. It wasn’t a smart move, I let my emotions get the best of me, and usually, I have no emotions and I’m not emotional, but I take back what I said about Joe Rogan.”
“No, I’m not gonna slap him, we’re gonna be cool. Hopefully, we go on a hunting trip with Cam Hanes together, and hopefully, we can play the video game together or something.”
Covington is scheduled to co-headline UFC 225 this Saturday, June 9th, in Chicago, against Rafael dos Anjos, as they fight for the UFC interim welterweight title.
