Colby Covington gives his take on PETA’s investigation of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) had called for the UFC to sever ties with undefeated lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov, over alleged animal cruelty.

The criticism comes after PETA reviewed video footage of Nurmagomedov wrestling a bear as a child.

”PETA encourages the UFC to evaluate its relationship with Mr. Nurmagomedov until he shows a clear change in attitude and a commitment to showing animals the respect that they deserve,” a PETA spokesperson told Business Insider. “Wrestling with a chained bear is loathsome behavior that shows an utter lack of respect for and consideration of who these animals are.”

It didn’t take long for top UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington to give his two cents on the matter, as ‘Chaos’ implored PETA to investigate Nurmagomedov’s relationship with sheep.

“If they think wrestling bears is bad, wait til PETA finds out what he does with the sheep!” Covington posted on Twitter yesterday.

Covington’s tweet comes after the unruly welterweight called Nurmagomedov a ‘sheep f-cker’ on a recent edition of Chael Sonnen’s podcast.

“I wasn’t impressed at all,” Covington said of Khabib’s title win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242. “We all know Dustin can’t stuff a nosebleed and he also can’t stuff a Khabib takedown. I saw Dustin training the whole camp at American Top Team. He was getting taken down by high school-level wrestlers. His wrestling is just not there. Khabib, he’s beaten all these guys who can’t wrestle. If he fought a wrestler and a well-rounded fighter like myself, I would completely expose him and knock him out.

“So I wasn’t impressed by the sheep f**ker over the weekend.”

Covington, 31, is currently without an opponent. The American Top Team product was expected to headline the upcoming UFC 244 PPV in New York opposite Kamaru Usman, but the championship bout was reportedly scrapped after Covington rejected the UFC’s offer.
