“It was funny because he walked by me and he said, ‘F-ck you Colby.’ And he flipped me off when I was sitting front row and he walked by cageside.”
Colby Covington didn’t seem to make any friends at UFC 235.
The former UFC interim welterweight champion was cageside for event and was seen heckling newly-minted champ Kamaru Usman during the co-main event.
Usman and friends retaliated by attacking Covington while he was queuing up for a buffet at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas and, if that wasn’t bad enough, ‘Chaos’ was flipped off by the quasi-retired Nate Diaz.
Speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani in a recent interview (h/t Adam Guillen Jr. of MMA Mania), Covington called Diaz a ‘bitch’ who’s too scared to back up his talk in the Octagon.
“Our skill level is way apart from each other. He’s a bottom feeder,” said Colby regarding Nate’s skill set. “It was funny because he walked by me and he said, ‘Fuck you Colby.’ And he flipped me off when I was sitting front row and he walked by cageside. It’s just funny. keep that energy Nate. If you’re so tough, let’s see it inside the cage, bitch.”
Diaz was originally set to face Dustin Poirier last year, but ‘The Diamond’ pulled out of the bout due to injury.
As for Covington, it’s expected that the American Top Team product will go on to challenge ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ for the official welterweight title.
