Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, was charged with DWI last week in Albuquerque, New Mexico and during his arrest (see the video here), police found a loaded handgun, as well as an open bottle of alcohol.

Which just so happened to be “El Recuerdo” Mezcal from Jorge Masvidal.

“Gamebred” recently got into the booze business, sort of like Conor McGregor with Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey, and may have been an accomplice in the downfall of “Bones.” That’s according to longtime teammate and former best friend Colby Covington.

“Did you guys see the alcohol that Jon Jones was drinking before he got his latest DUI? Oh my gosh, you guys gotta look this up. Man, this is juicy,” Covington told Submission Radio. “It was journeyman Jorge Masvidal’s liquor in the back seat of Jon Jones. So, that’s how good of a friend Jorge Masvidal is, he gave an alcoholic Jon Jones alcohol. And look what happened, he got another DUI, he’s going to jail.”

Jones was able to avoid jail time after striking a plea deal with prosecutors. Instead, the 32 year-old champ was sentenced to one-year probation and will be required to complete 48 hours of community service, along with a 90-day outpatient drug treatment program.

He celebrated by off-roading.

As for Covington, a former college roommate of Jones, he’s supposed to be keeping his mouth shut after American Top Team (ATT) head coach Dan Lambert instituted a no trash talking rule to help curb the drop in morale, but it appears “Chaos” is going into business for himself.

Maybe it’s time for that jump to WWE?
