Alex Oliveira might be fighting for his job when he meets Max Griffin at UFC 248.
Entertaining welterweight Alex Cowboy might by done in the Octagone if he fails to beat Max Griffin at UFC 248.
Currently on a three-fight losing skid, the Brazilian ‘Cowboy’ has never found himself in a such a dire spot in his entire mixed martial arts career before. And with his back against the wall it sounds like he is well aware that the UFC might cut ties with him off another loss, now matter how entertaining his past fights have been.
In an interview with Combate, the Tata Fight Team athlete promised he will still be his usual self, always looking to put on a show despite the circumstances. But, he also believes he will be able to exploit Griffin’s holes and score a win to break a bad streak of performances.
“This fight means everything to me now. If I make a mistake, I’m out. I can’t mess it up. I’m focused. The UFC knows I have a huge potential and I’ll show them I’m always evolving. I’ll put on a show. I can’t let certain things get to me. In 2019, I let that happen, but this year it’ll be different. I’ll give my best, I won’t drop the ball and I’ll get that win.”
“Griffin is an explosive guy, he comes after you, exposes himself a lot.” Oliveira continued. “I studies his holes, and he studied mine. He says he’ll take advantage of my cardio, so we’ll see. Let’s go. He better give his best, because I’m giving 100%.”
In his last outing, back in September, Alex Oliveira (19-8-1-2 NC) dropped a unanimous decision to Nicolas Dalby. Before that, the 32-year-old also suffered losses to both Mike Perry and Gunnar Nelson, making Cowboy’s last win a September 2018 TKO victory over Carlo Pedersoli Jr.
